The Power Suit is a Powered armor utilized by the United Citizen Federation during the Second Bug War. A Power Suit consists two parts: the Inner Body Suit and the Powered Suit.

History[]

Despite various previous Powered armor suits having been used by the Mobile Infantry the Power Suit was the first to be used in large numbers. During the Second Bug War special forces equiped with these suits began to be used in combat missons such as during the Battle of Kwalasha.

During an Arachnid attack on the Military Intelligence base Fort Casey where two Fleet ships each containing a Power Suit equipped squad engaged Arachnids. These two squads later were engaged on the John A. Warden Incident where an Arachnid Queen took control of the ship John A. Warden (7902) and crashed it onto Earth in an attempt to infest the human homeworld.

During the Second Battle of Mars several Power Suit squads were engaged in the battle with the unit Lost Patrol having dropped from orbit and deactivating a secretly placed Q Bomb before retreating back into orbit.

Components[]

Inner Suit[]

The Inner Suit is a "Muscle suit" which provides the trooper with extra muscle power. The suit is worn inside the Powered Suit.

Main Powered Suit[]

The Main Powered Suit is an external armor worn over a inner suit, and powered by a battery. Every part of a Power Suit is mass produced with standardization in mind, hence a trooper can salvage parts from fallen soldiers powersuits on the battlefield.[1] There are male and female versions for both Inner Suit and Main Powered Suit. The female version Powered Suit is more streamlined than the male version.

Body armor (Battle Armor)[1]
There are several hardpoints on the armor for various optional equipment and weapons to be attached and removed, such as a Back Gatling gun, a combat knife, ammo bags (only seen on the Art version), extra armor (also only seen on Art version) and a Multi-purpose Back Launcher which can hold either two large missiles or eleven small high explosive grenades. There are three different types of missiles; a nuke missile (marked with a red outline in the front) which fires a nuclear warhead, a cluster missile (marked with a yellow outline) which breaks up into smaller cluster rockets, and a chemical missile (marked with a white outline) which releases a gas that's toxic to the bugs.[1] On each elbow, there is a large hardpoint, which is made for interfacing with vehicles.[citation needed]
Weapons can be placed on the rack on the back. Each suit comes equipped with magnetic soles under the feet, to enable the wearer to walk on metal surfaces even in low gravity. The armor also enables a trooper with a super jump as well as a sneak mode (silencing footsteps).[2]
In the Invasion mobile tie-in game, two jump jets are located on the boots and can only be used for a limited amount of time. The later version saw in Traitor of Mars feature only one large jump jet located in the backpack which will open or close when use, it's powered by a limited fuel supply carried in the suit which can enable a trooper to soften a landing, hover in places and perform very high jumps.
Helmet
Each helmet has a flashlight mounted on both left & right sides. There are four camera-eyes on the visor that provide visuals, displayed on the other side of the visor. There is a HUD system inside the helmet.
Helmets can be linked to other weapon systems, such as missile launcher onboard a Landing Ship.[1]
The Helmet is made of a very strong metal material that has very high ballistic resistance, able to receive a bullet from a Morita and the bullet to ricochet from the Helmet[1]
Unit colors

Each unit has a different color, pattern, or word layout on the armor. For example the A-01 armor is a dark green and the K-12 armor is lighter green in a digital camouflage pattern, while the Elite Guard and Marauder Team have black armor.

Personal emblems[]

Some troopers have their own personal emblems on their helmets as seen in follows:

Notes[]

  • The female Inner Body Suit seems to be the normal uniform for a female personnel, as Ice Blonde and Trig both only wear the inner suit during the intermission, while Carmen Ibanez and Captain Jonah wear the suits under their jackets.
  • The Power Suit seems more vulnerable than the Powered Armor in the novel as the enemy possesses weaponry powerful enough to destroy the armor with ease. However, the Power Suit is much lighter as the novel version are described as a "steel gorilla". Plus, it is shown to be durable from bullets powerful enough to pierce Warrior carapaces.
  • Most troopers have their names near the armor between the chest and the neck, much like those in Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, who have their names on the helmets.
  • Much similar to the 1988 anime, the troopers use a variety of machine guns as primary armaments, such as Morita Mk III SAW and Gatling guns.
  • In the Japanese version of Starship Troopers: Invasion, the Suit is known as Powered Suit (パワードスーツ Pawādo Sūtsu), the alternative name for the Powered Armor as mentioned in the original novel.
  • The Inner Suit is also known as Inner Body Suit (インナーボディースーツ Innnābodīsūtsu).
  • The idea for mounted weapons and jetpack on the suit have already been planned since Starship Troopers: Invasion such as the the suit already sported two weapons rails on the far back of the shoulders. However due to unknown reason, it did not make it into the final film until the sequel.
