Plasma weaponry is any firearm designed to use plasma as a weapon. It is a type of the energy weaponry.
Film Universe[]
Plasma is a weapon heavily used by some larger Arachnids such as the Plasma Bug which can fire plasma burst into a planet's orbit to directly fire upon starships in the system.
During the Second Bug War the Plasma Grenadier Bug appeared which could fire a large plasma burst at surface opponants, but lacked the ability to launch them into orbit as the much larger Plasma Bug could. The Scorpion bug also could fire a much smaller plasma burst as a direct fire weapon.
The Federation has created some weapons based on Plasma such as the MX-156 Plasma Drop Bomb which was equiped by M11 Marauder which would jump on the spot and drop them in close quarters Arachnids incinerating them.

Plasma Bugs, as its name suggest, are able to discharge plasma that powerful enough to deflect asteroids and slice right through many large starships.

- In the novel Starship Troopers, the Pseudo-Arachnid Warriors possess energy weaponry, however, it is never mentioned whether it is plasma or other energy.
- Exactly how the Bugs are able to contain and fire plasma is unknown, because usually plasma is so hot that electromagnets are required to hold it and plasma particles tend to quickly disperse in an atmosphere due to friction from air.
