A Marauder is a super soldier or type of powered armor in the form of a powered exoskeleton suit or mech, depending on which universe it is set in.

Starship Troopers novel[]

The Marauder Suit is the basic Power Armor used by the Mobile Infantry. Each armored suit is customized to fit the individual and is designed to deflect enemy fire, give a trooper increased strength, and allow troopers to jump over buildings with ease.

Marauders are known as Soldier Suits (歩兵タイプ Hohei Taipu "Infantry Type").

Different to the novel version, the Powered Suit in the anime uses a variety of machine guns as primary armaments, while the Y-Rack is on the left shoulder instead of the back of the armor. The hatch also opens from the front instead of the back.

The Soldier Suits can also mount various optional equipments, such as micro missile missile launchers, Y-Racks, and flamethrowers. In addition, the Soldier Suits have three extra variations:

P.S.Variation, Type-2: High gravity planet method "DEEP DIVER"
P.S.Variation, Type-3: VOLCANO-RIFLE-SYSTEM loading type

In the film universe Marauder refers to three things; elite special forces soldiers (the Marauder Team), powered exoskeleton suits (the Marauder Suit), and mechs (the Marauder M11 Babar and Marauder MK-II); all of which fall under and were developed by the Marauder Project.

Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy[]

There are two types of the Marauder Armor:

The Terran Ascendancy version of the Marauder suit reflects a focus on head-on brawls, being more heavily clad than the recon variant. The 1st and 2nd class suits replace the recon drone found on recon variants with built-in forward facing micro missile racks. They also have the option of wielding heavy weapons. As with all suits, if the armor is depleted it will disintegrate and leave the wearer armed and armored with only basic weapons and equipment. The suits can only be repaired by an engineer using the repair ability.

Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles[]

Marauders are large mechanized machines used by the Mobile Infantry to support their troopers on the ground. Marauders are first used in combat during the beginning of The Pluto Campaign.

Starship Troopers 3 Marauder (Action figure, 2009)

This is an 1/35 scale action figure of Sergeant Sunday's M11 Babar but with the number "04", Johnny Rico's number. The figure has die-cast parts, making it with weights.

The figure is also sold with the Japanese version of the Starship Troopers 3: Marauder DVD with only 7000 sets.

Notes[]

The Marauder Suit and Command Module were originally planned to appear in the 1997 film Starship Troopers (1997 film)^[1], however due to budgetary issues and the limited CGI animation technology of the time, the Powered Armor was replaced with Federation Body Armor in the film.
