The M-3 Tactical Helmet is a type of a protective gear for the head.

The M-3 helmet is a type of protective gear used by the Federation. It appears to be made of a similar material to the Body Armor worn by the Mobile Infantry and ground-side members of the Fleet. It has an integrated radio headset built into the right side of the helmet which is activated by pushing a large black button on the outside. Breckinridge was killed after he reported a malfunction in his M-3 Tactical helmet and was then ordered to remove it during a live-fire exercise.
When used by the Fleet, the helmet is painted black and has the fleet badge on the top. On some occasions (such as the Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy), it also has a night vision sight that can be attached to the left or right side. The helmet sometimes includes a sun visor.
A similar fully enclosed helmet also exists which is used by the Deep Space Vanguard. Apart from the included faceplate this helmet is identical in shape to the standard M3.

- Although not standard, some units such as the 701st Mobile Infantry added a large sticker to the back of the helmet with the Trooper's surname.
- Many helmets (worn by main cast) had a small microphone sticking out from the right side. In all later appearances these helmets have been shown without any microphone included.
- Some helmets have been shown with a glass shield coming down off the helmet to cover the eyes. Two troopers manning the machineguns at Whiskey Outpost were shown to have these.
