The Fast Attack Ship (FAS) is a class of Starship in service with the United Citizen Federation Fleet. Several of these ships saw service during the Second Bug War.
History[]
Technology and Weapon Systems[]
The Fast Attack Ship, hence its name, is constructed for high speed combat and flanking maneuvers. Smaller than most UCF ships, the FAS measured in at about 200 meters in length. Armed with 2 double barreled energy batteries, with one mounted on the bow and the second mounted on the midsection of the class, the vessel was capable of dishing out plenty of damage for its size. For point defense, the class is armed with five gun turrets on each side of the vessel.
Speed wise, the FAS was propelled by a trio of sublight engines mounted on evenly spaced aft nacelles. Due to the enhanced power output and smaller size of the class, they are very fast and maneuverable.
The FAS was designed for its namesake - capable of performing quick insertions into enemy space to either deploy troops or assault enemy positions quickly. Its frontal armor is durable enough to resist several weapon barrages, but it was noticeably weaker along its broadsides.
