The Corvette Transport is a class of Starship for transport usage.
History[]
During the early offensives against the Arachnids, the Corvettes were the most common capital ship used by the United Citizen Federation to deploy Dropships, TAC Fighters, and materials to planets across the galaxy. The class carries several dropships, each one capable of deploying a full platoon into battle, and specialized variants also carry multiple TAC Fighters in the upper-flight deck.
The primary launch bays of the Corvette Transport were massive spaces with nine connected hangar entryways on each side, allowing the vessel to deploy eighteen dropships at a time - though it's not specified how many dropships each transport carried. They were typically hanging on a ceiling mounted railing system, with the inner hangar entrance and the outer doors separated via an airlock system. After being pulled out of the ship's hangars - the transport could then release the dropships, literally dropping them into orbit to deploy troops on the ground.
By the Second Battle of Klendathu, the Athena class was introduced to Fleet. However, Corvette Transports still remained the most numerous starship in the Fleet, staying in service well into the Second Bug War.
Modular elements[]
Corvette Transports were build with modular elements to them. This allowed ships to have sections reworked as needed for mission purposes:
Module | Image | Notes |
---|---|---|
Communications module | A standard communications module used for long range communication. This version was standardised by the Second Bug War. | |
Communication module | A second type of communications module. | |
Clear flight deck | A cleared dorsal flight deck for the landing of TAC Fighters | |
Cargo section | The dorsal flight deck with the existing structure removed and a cargo section added. | |
Cargo containers | The dorsal flight deck with the existing structure removed and a several large cargo containers added. |

Known Losses[]
Although the Corvette Transports suffered heavy casualties during the course of the Bug Wars, more specifically at the Battle of Klendathu and the Battle of Planet P, the best known losses of these ships were the Rodger Young and the Geronimo. The former when it was severed in half by a Plasma Bug Battery over Planet P, and the latter ship destroyed over OM-1 when it's reactor was hit by Bug Plasma bursts.
